What Are the Systems of Injection Molding?

Although the structure of the injection mold may vary greatly due to the variety and performance of plastics and the type of the injection machine, the basic structure is the same. The rejection mold is mainly composed of feed system, temperature regulating system, forming parts and structural parts. Additionally, the feed system and the forming parts are directly contacted with the plastics, and change with the plastics and products, which are the most complex and most changeable parts in the plastic mold and require the highest processing smoothness and accuracy. In fact, the feed system has been introduced in another article. Therefore, we will lay emphasis on introducing the other three parts, hoping that you can learn something from that.

Temperature Regulating System

In order to meet the requirement of the injection molding process for proper temperature, a temperature regulating system is needed to adjust the temperature of the injection mold. In terms of injection molds for thermoplastics, cooling systems are mainly designed to cool the molds. The common method of mold cooling is to set up cooling water passage in the injection mold and use circulating cooling water to take away the heat of the injection mold. Besides hot water or steam in the cooling water passage, the heating element can also be installed inside or around the injection mold.

Injection Mold Forming Parts

Forming parts refer to all kinds of parts that constitute the shape of products, including moving molds, fixed molds, cavities and exhaust and so on. The forming parts are composed of the core and mold. The core forms the inner surface of the product and the mold forms the outer surface of the product. After merging, the core and cavity form the cavity of the injection mold. According to the process and manufacturing requirements, sometimes the core and mold are composed of several pieces, otherwise, they are made into a whole. And inserts are used only in parts that are easily damaged and difficult to process.

Injection Mold Structural Parts

It refers to all kinds of parts that constitute the mold structure, including guiding parts, demoulding parts, core pulling parts and typing parts and so on. In order to ensure the accurate alignment of the moving mold and the fixed mold in the merging of the injection mold, the guiding parts must be set in the injection mold. In the process of opening the injection mold, a push-out mechanism is needed to push out or pull out the plastic products and their condensates in the runner. Some plastics products with side concave or side hole must be classified laterally before being pushed out. Only when the side core is pulled out, can the injection mold be demoulded smoothly. At this time, the side core pulling mechanism needs to be set in the injection mold.

Simply put, injection molding needs the cooperation of various parts so that the quality and production efficiency of products can be ensured. That is all that counts.
