Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is the method of designing parts, components or products for ease of manufacturing with an end goal of making a better product at a lower cost. This is done by simplifying, optimizing and refining the product design.
DFM approaches started to be used in the 60s. In the 70s, analytical evaluation tools started to get developed such as the Assembly Evaluation Method (AEM) developed at Hitachi and the Design for Assembly Method developed by Geoff Boothroyd. Further advancements and variations of these methods happened during the 80s and 90s.
DFM is an effective tool that we can provide to our customers to fix the potential problems in design phase, minimize tooling costs and shorten the manufacturing process. DFM helps to eliminate costly re-building of tooling or delays in the manufacturing process caused by design alteration.
Our rich manufacturing experience helps us to use DFM predictability and effectively, save money and time for our customers. Welcome to contact our engineer for more details.
