Basic Classification of Injection Mold

Injection molds can be divided into thermosetting plastic molds and thermoplastic plastic molds according to their forming characteristics. According to the mold process, it can be divided into three types: transfer molds, blow molds, casting molds, hot molds, hot pressing molds (pressure molds), injection molds, etc. The hot pressing molds can be divided into overflow, semi-overflow and non-overflow. Injection molds can be divided into cold runner molds and hot runner molds by gating system. According to the way of loading and unloading, it can be divided into movable type and fixed type.

 

 

Application Field of Injection Mold

Injection mold is important process equipment for the production of various industrial products. With the rapid development of plastic industry and the popularization and application of plastic products in aviation, aerospace, electronics, machinery, ships and automobiles, the requirements of products for molds are becoming higher and higher. Compared with traditional die design, computer aided engineering (CAE) technology has great advantages not only in improving productivity, ensuring product quality, but also in reducing cost and labor intensity.

 

Injection molds are used in various numerical control processing. The most widely used are CNC milling and machining centers. CNC WEDM and CNC EDM are also widely used in CNC machining of dies and molds. Wire cutting is mainly used in the processing of various straight wall dies, such as punch and concave dies in stamping, inserts, sliders in injection molds, electrodes for EDM, etc. For die parts with high hardness, it is impossible to process them by machining, mostly by EDM. In addition, EDM is also used for sharp corners, deep cavity parts, narrow grooves and so on. The NC lathe is mainly used to process standard parts of mold rods, as well as die cavity or core of revolving body, such as injection molds of bottle and basin, forging dies of shaft and disk parts. In die processing, the application of NC drilling machine can also improve the processing accuracy and shorten the processing cycle.

 

Molds are widely used in modern manufacturing industry. Molds are almost needed to complete the forming process of product components. Therefore, the die and mold industry is an important part of the national high-tech industry and an important and valuable technical resource. We should optimize the structure design of the die system and the CAD/CAE/CAM of the parts, and make it intelligent, improve the forming process and standardization level of the parts, improve the precision and quality of the die manufacturing, and reduce the amount of surface grinding, polishing and manufacturing cycle of the parts. We should study and apply special materials with high performance and easy cutting for various types of die parts to improve the performance of the die. In order to adapt to market diversification and new product trial-manufacture, the application of rapid prototyping manufacturing technology and rapid die-making technology to rapid manufacturing of die, plastic injection mold or die-casting mold should be the development trend of die production technology in the next 5-20 years.
