Introduction to Subtracted Forming
Rapid prototype is a forming method based on the principle of discrete-stack forming. Since ancient times, two basic methods of material forming have been developed in the long-term production work. They are the basis of modern manufacturing science, technology and engineering, namely: "removal forming" and "forced forming". Removal of forming means removal of excess material to form. From the ancestors of human ancestors stone-making stone tools to modern multi-axis high-speed machining centers for milling precision parts, all belong to the same forming principle. This method of separating redundant materials (margin materials) from the whole material to obtain the desired shape, structure, accuracy and surface roughness is accompanied by human beings from ancient times to the modern civilization era. There is no difference in the concept of forming principle between African Homo sapiens making simple stone tools and modern people grinding a precision lead screw with CNC machine tools. Modern mechanical manufacturing science regards turning, milling, planing, grinding, EDM, high energy beam and arc, flame cutting, chemical etching, etching and mask processing as removal forming.
Characteristics of Subtracted Forming
It is a method of separating a part of material (margin material) from the matrix in an orderly way. In the manufacturing system where the raw material input is converted into a product and exported, the main function of the removal forming subsystem is to remove excess material from the blank. Thus, parts with specified geometric shape, dimensional accuracy and surface quality can be obtained. For example, turning, milling, planing, grinding and modern EDM, laser cutting, drilling and other processing methods belong to removal forming. Removal forming realize digital control, which is the main manufacturing method at present. In the removal forming subsystem, the machining object (blank or semi-finished product) is input, processed, and finally the finished product (qualified part) is output. In addition to the material flow, there is also the intervention of energy flow, that is, the energy conversion of the machine tool, providing the necessary power and motion, and a large amount of information transmission during the processing, such as image processing information, planning and scheduling management information, cutting parameter control information and so on.
Features of Subtracted Forming
1. Solve the difficult processing problems of various metal materials and non-metal materials with high hardness, high strength, high toughness and high brittleness.
2. Solve a variety of special complex surfaces, such as cold punching die hole or cavity, turbine blade, nozzle, mesh, spinneret hole or narrow slot processing.
3. Solve various parts processing with special requirements, such as slender parts, thin-walled parts, elastic components and so on, which require high accuracy and surface quality.
